“I wanted a name that represented this unique connection from different languages. In Japanese, 'ち' (chi) means strength, in Italian, the pronoun 'ci' means us, and in Chinese, the pinyin 'cí' (磁) means attraction. Thus, the name CÍ was born, symbolizing the power of our collective passion that brings us together.”
The name CÍ was inspired by our founder, YEE, during her time studying at the University of the Arts London. During her studies, she met friends from all over the world who spoke different languages but shared the same passion for leathercraft. Despite their different native languages, their shared enthusiasm brought them close together. YEE was fascinated by this attraction and felt inspired to create a brand that embodies this wonderful feeling.
Meanwhile, her twin sister, D.D., pursued a successful law career in Munich. Every month, she dedicated time to crafting pottery projects in a German pottery studio. She loved the beauty that emerged from shaping raw clay with her hands. Together, their diverse experiences and shared love for craftsmanship gave birth to CÍ, combining YEE's leathercraft and D.D.'s pottery into two essential product lines.
