Different Types of Stamp Holders:
Type 1 Holder:
This multipurpose stamp holder accommodates both single and double line letter stamps, as well as logo stamps smaller than 2.5 x 7.5 cm (1" x 3"). A key advantage of the Type 1 holder is its versatility; it supports both single and double line stamps and can even fit some letter stamps from other brands.
Type 2 Holder:
If you frequently need to emboss logo and one-line stamps, the Type 2 holder offers a more convenient operation. It accommodates molds up to 6 x 8 cm and supports letter stamps, but it is limited to holding single-line letters specifically designed by Maxita.

1. What's the difference between the EC-17 and EC-27?
Portability:
The biggest difference is portability. The EC-17 is smaller and lighter, with a weight difference of around 6-9kg depending on the base material:
- EC-17 (Walnut base): 6.7kg (without packaging)
- EC-27 (Walnut base): 14kg | Metal base: 16kg (without packaging)
Work Surface:
The EC-17 has a 15cm x 15cm work surface, which is more suitable for handling small, flat pieces. The EC-27, on the other hand, features a 16cm x 20cm suspended work surface, allowing for hot stamping on bags of various sizes. You can check out this video for more details.
Temperature Control System:
The EC-17 is equipped with a temperature control system from Autonics, while the EC-27 uses Omron’s system. Both systems are reliable and stable, but if you plan on running the machine for long hours, the EC-27 would be a better fit.
2. Can it be used with die cuts?
No, this machine is not designed for pressing die cuts.
3. Can I use other companies' typesets with the machine?
Holder 1:
Holder 1 supports custom copper molds up to 2.4x7.7cm. If your typeset falls within this range, it should be compatible. Holder 1 offers better compatibility, but it has its limitations. The mold is aligned at the bottom edge, and while it automatically centers horizontally, you will need to spend more time adjusting the vertical position depending on the copper mold to find the right stamping spot.
Holder 2:
Holder 2 accommodates custom molds from 0 to 6x8cm and supports single-row typesets, though it is only compatible with MAXITA typesets.
If you’re looking for both flexibility and compatibility, most of our customers find it helpful to use both Holder 1 and Holder 2 together. For more details, you can check out this video explaining the two holders.
4. Can it stay on for extended periods?
Absolutely! This machine has a highly stable temperature controller and fuse, making it easy to run continuously for about 10 hours. You won’t need to turn it off between projects.
5. What’s the ideal temperature to use?
While the maximum temperature is 200°C, most users find that 110-120°C works as a universal setting for various materials. For best results, we recommend doing a quick test before starting your final project.
6. How long should I press for each impression?
Generally, 2-3 seconds does the trick!

Overall, it’s super practical and the quality is great. The packaging was really well done too. If I had the chance, I’d probably go for the bigger size since it gives more room to work, but honestly, I’m too lazy to switch it.

I've researched it well beforehand, so I knew what I was buying. A solid set, sharp, easy and convenient to use. Better quality than Blanchard or other established tool-makers at a more convenient price. I would say it is a tool for fine hands (and fine leatherworking). On top of that, it is an eye-catching centerpiece.
And the seller, CI, is very professional and friendly. I recommend them wholeheartedly.
I would love to see an extension for it (16+mm heads) and maybe a walnut version of the wooden case.
At first this seems very expensive, but the build quality is spot on. The jaws don't open as much as some, not a negative just an observation, although I doubt you would need more. As one purchaser said, you will only purchase this once and it will probably last a lifetime. I am more than happy and I think you will be too
I was really suprised how got was, but also how it arrived. Too good to open but also great for a hobbist getting into leather, it would be a good gift.

The walnut base is sturdy enough. Embossing effect is also quite good. I opted for the #1 handle, but I might purchase a #2 handle later on.

When I first got my hands on this, I could only say, Wow, this is luxurious! I love the rich walnut color and the slightly glossy finish. It was pretty easy to assemble, and when I started using it, I found it to be very sturdy. The rotation is smooth, and it even has a handy spot for storing my stitching needles. Overall, it's definitely worth the price and the wait.
My wife surprised me with this as a birthday present, and considering it's from China, it's surprisingly well-made. I didn't have high expectations initially. I've been searching for a good way to skive chrome-tanned leather for sewing preparation for quite some time.
I was almost set on purchasing the Schärffix skiver or even considering a bell skiver. I already own an old cast iron hand-crank gear-driven American skiver that works exceptionally well with vegetable-tanned leather. It's great for thicker leather but not ideal for chrome-tanned leather since it wasn't designed with that in mind. I have a variety of hand skiving tools including round knives, head knives, dexter knives, Tandy skivers, and various handmade tools for paring/skiving. However, this YaeTek Manual Leather Skiver seems to be the best fit for my current needs. While a bell skiver would be ideal for full-time skiving of chrome-tanned leather, this tool meets my needs perfectly. It's a step up from hand skiving tools but not as productive as a bell skiver.
My initial impression was not great - the parts seemed loose and sloppy. I had to tighten the turnbuckles, adjust the slop, and lock down the lock nuts. After adding a drop of sewing oil to the threads and pivot points, and a dab of grease to the cam lever, everything operates smoothly with minimal backlash. It was refreshing to only need to make a few adjustments, unlike many Chinese tools I've dealt with in the past. The machining on the blade holder could be better, and the included blades are terrible.
Adjustment is quick, and with some common sense, you can achieve repeatable results. I haven't experienced the deflection mentioned by Jeff Peachey with the Schärffix-style paring/skiving machine, but it's possible it may become an issue with long-term use. So far, I've dulled half a dozen double-sided blades, but the skiver is still working well.
The 18 blades included with this skiver were junk, but Schärffix blades fit and hold a good edge. Standard double-edged razor blades also fit and are a good option. I recommend buying a sample pack from Amazon to try different manufacturers before purchasing a box of 100.
Overall, the YaeTek Manual Leather Skiver works well on soft leather and thin veg-tan, but heavy veg-tanned leather will likely damage the tool quickly. For heavy veg-tanned leather, a sturdier machine like the Landis or American type skiver is recommended.
It's a great tool, and I would have purchased it myself if my wife hadn't gotten it for me first.
I find it really smooth and effective when skiving hard leather with this tool, but it can be a bit tricky with soft leather as it tends to deform sometimes. It requires some skill and practice. Overall, the product offers great value for the money and is quite suitable for beginners.
