Bringing the world's tapestry of traditional handcrafts into the spotlight, we stand with artisan groups, especially focusing on uplifting and supporting female crafters. Our mission is to help these talented women keep their creative flames burning, ensuring their art, culture, and livelihoods are celebrated and sustained.
Fujian Minority Village: 'SHE'
Today, we're excited to introduce you to a special ethnic minority tribe located in Fujian Province, home to Dehua.
Nestled in the picturesque hills and clear waters of Xipu Town, Xiapu County, Fujian, lies a small village with only 86 households and 325 residents. This is the renowned SHE ethnic village. The She people, whose name signifies "slash-and-burn agriculture," are one of China's smaller ethnic minorities, with a population of around 365,500. They have their own language, Shehua.
Cultural Heritage Site
This village is a well-preserved gem of ancient SHE culture, boasting several Qing Dynasty buildings that remain intact, including the "Lei Shiru Mansion" and "Lei Family Ancestral Hall," both designated as Fujian Provincial Cultural Heritage sites. With babbling streams at the village front and ancient banyan trees amidst a backdrop of lush mountains and clear waters, the majority of villagers bear the surname Lei.
OUR VISION
At the heart of our craft lies a community of artisans, predominantly women, who have carried the torch of traditional craftsmanship from their earliest years into their twilight.
CÍ, a brand that holds traditional handcraftsmanship in the highest regard, is deeply committed to the well-being and empowerment of these women artisans. We pledge to support these remarkable craftswomen by donating a portion of our proceeds to projects supporting minority female artisans in Fujian through Tencent's philanthropy platform. Our commitment to transparency means we'll share updates on our contributions through our official channels.
Though our contribution might be modest, it's our way of showing deep respect and support for the art of traditional craftsmanship.
